Saw Cake
Jonah had a "build-it" birthday party. I made him a cake in the shape of a hand saw. This started out as a 9x13 cake that I cut up and rearranged. Chocolate cake with chocolate ganache and buttercream. There was a lot of waste as I fashioned this into the shape of a saw, so I was able to bring an additional small square cake to the party.
Dog Bone Cake
Stella had a dog-themed party for her 8th birthday. This dog bone cake is a cut down 9x13 cake with pink and green buttercream.
sleepover cake
Nora had a sleepover for her 8th birthday so I made her a sleepover cake. It started as a 9x13 and I trimmed a bit off the side to make the bodies. I used Nilla wafers for heads, large marshmallows for pillows, sour candy tape for the dust ruffle and the edge of the blanket. If I had it to do over again, I'd pipe the blanket on so it would look like it was crocheted. I think that would have looked better (and been faster).

Rainbow Unicorn Cake
For her 5th birthday, Nora presented me with one of my greatest challenges yet...a rainbow unicorn. Pink buttercream with rainbow fruit belts and sugar cone horn.
Monkey Cake
This is one of my favorite cakes ever! I made it for Ian's second birthday, with a round cake and a heart shaped cupcake split into for the ears. Covered with chocolate ganache and piped chocolate buttercream. Decorated with thin black licorice and chocolate malt balls.
